V64Send is a Windows 95 native
multi-threaded send utility for the Doctor V64. It can be run in
the Windows 95 System Tray, or launched from the Explorer. It
provides better feedback and better integration with Windows 95
than any other currently available send utilities. It was created
primarily for the N64 demo scene to send images created by demo
coders to the Doctor V64. Tribe N64 isn't responsible for any
misuse of this program to transfer copyrighted materials to the
Doctor V64.
| Running in the System Tray |
 |
By default
V64Send will start up as an icon in the System
Tray in the lower right hand corner of the
desktop. |
Right clicking the mouse on the icon brings up
the menu. From here you can send an image to the
V64, set preferences, exit, or get the about box.
Only one copy of the app can be run at a time in
the System Tray. |
|
 |
| When run for the
first time, V64Send will associate itself with the .V64
file type. Double clicking on a .V64 file will start the
transfer to the Doctor V64. Alternatively, a right click
on a .V64 file will present the menu item 'Send to V64'
which basically does the same thing. Note that you do not
need to close the V64Send running in the System Tray to
transfer an image from the Explorer. When a transfer is
in progress a system wide lock on the Doctor 64 assures
that you do not inadvertantly start a new transfer. |
 |
 |
Once an image has
been selected for sending, either by the menu or the
Explorer, the Send Image dialog is displayed. Transfer
rate and elapsed time are displayed along with a progress
and percentage indicator. If V64Send is exited by using
the menu from the System Tray during a send, or if the
transfer is aborted by using the Abort button, the Doctor
V64 will most likely need to be reset by switching the
power on and off again. |
| The V64 connects to
the PC parallel port with a 'straight-through' 25-pin
male to male cable. The parallel port address can be
selected in the preferences dialog, selectable from the
right click menu. V64Send saves this information to the
Windows 95 registry. |
